SUMMARY:Member Event: Women on Corporate Boards
DESCRIPTION:Women on Corporate Boards\n\nDate January 18\, 2019 Time 10 AM 4 PM\n\nPLEASE SHARE THIS FLYER WITH\n\nALL YOUR HIGH-POWERED WOMEN COLLEAGUES AND FRIENDS\n\nOur first boot camp (in October) was very well received and so we are launching additional ones for those of you who were interested but unable to attend that day. \n\n One of the participants sent me a thank you e-mail stating:\n\n "Right at the beginning ArLyne taught me how to speak like a Board member. By the end of this seminar I was speaking like a board member."\n\nThis workshop is designed to give you valuable information about boards\, as well as to enable you to increase your "street cred" (credibility) through role-playing and other interactive techniques. This day will be a combination of hard information and lots of shared practice. This might be just what you need to be accepted by "the big boys."\n\nThanks mostly to the #MeToo Movement\, California is once again in the Vanguard creating legislation to advance gender equality requiring that at least one woman sit on every corporate board. Over the next few years that is expected to increase to having 40% of board composition be women. Although highly controversial this is an opportunity for all high powered fast-tracking women to serve at this level.\n\nIt also is the opportunity for those in "soft-skill" fields to participate with mostly "hard-skill" colleagues. Although every book on board Development (including my own) states the importance of the soft-skill perspective on the board\, it is rare to see anyone in those professions\, including serving on corporate boards. This one day boot camp is designed to give you the information and skills you will need to serve with "the big boys" and shine. Among the things you will learn:\n\nBasics of Corporate Governance How your Professional Background adds value\n\nTips on how to find the boards and get on them Roles of Board Members and Executive Boards\n\nHow to be heard to express yourself effectively Assertiveness Not Aggression\n\nGetting Noticed in a Positive Powerful Manner Dos and Don'ts of Board Membership\n\nHandling Attempts at Sabotage Standing Up to Bullies\n\nBoard Members relationships with staff Differences between non-profit and corporate boards\n\nDate January 18\, 2019 Time 10 AM 4 PM\n\nLocation: Restaurant in Santa Clara\, CA\n\nName\, Address & Directions given upon registration\n\nContinental Breakfast and Lunch Included\n\nFee: $300.00 per person\n\nPay either: http://diamondassociates.net/diamond-associates-one-day-womens-boot-camp.html \n\nor paypal: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=7YGCA3N7YMX6L\n\nBootcamp Leader: Dr. ArLyne Diamond\, founder of Diamond Associates (www.DiamondAssociates.net) who has been an advocate and professional development coach and counselor for women for well over thirty years. Not only has she served on many boards herself\, she trains boards of directors as well as executive staff teams. She has published six books\, the first of which\, Training Your Board of Directors will be used during this workshop.
