Description
California businesses and institutions are preparing for upcoming statewide requirements related to outdoor water use.
Join the Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce for this Utilities Update with Valley Water to learn more about Assembly Bill 1572 (AB 1572) and its upcoming requirements for commercial, industrial, and institutional properties.
AB 1572 will prohibit the use of potable drinking water to irrigate nonfunctional turf — grass areas that are not regularly used for recreation, gatherings, or other community activities. Examples may include decorative lawns along sidewalks, around building perimeters, in medians and roundabouts, near signage, and other primarily aesthetic turf areas.
During this session, Valley Water will provide an overview of:
• Upcoming AB 1572 requirements
• What nonfunctional turf means for businesses and property owners
• How businesses can prepare for the upcoming changes
• Available Valley Water water-conservation rebates
• Resources and support available for planning landscape improvements
Valley Water offers rebates to help offset the cost of replacing nonfunctional turf with water-efficient landscaping, upgrading irrigation systems, and implementing sustainable landscape designs. Rebates of up to $100,000 are available, with higher maximums of up to $135,000 in certain local service areas.
Businesses, commercial property owners, institutional organizations, and other affected organizations are encouraged to learn about the upcoming requirements and available resources.
